Modern Slavery Statement

Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Man and Van Wembley in respect of its activities as a local removals and transportation business. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a serious crime and a fundamental violation of human rights, and we are committed to playing our part in its eradication.

Man and Van Wembley operates in the transport and logistics sector, providing man and van, removals, and associated services to domestic and commercial customers. Our supply chains primarily include vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging suppliers, and occasional subcontracted labour and transport services. We understand that risks can exist at any stage of these supply chains and we are determined to identify and reduce those risks.

Our Zero-Tolerance Policy

We maintain a clear and explicit zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, child labour, and human trafficking. No form of exploitation is acceptable in our own business or in any organisation with which we work. We will not knowingly engage with any supplier, contractor, or partner who is involved in, or who turns a blind eye to, modern slavery or related abuses.

All employees, workers, and contractors engaged by Man and Van Wembley are expected to act ethically, with integrity, and in full compliance with applicable laws on employment, human rights, and modern slavery. Any breach of this policy by staff may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or contract, and we will cooperate with law enforcement where appropriate.

Suppliers, Due Diligence and Audits

We are committed to working only with suppliers and partners who share our values. As part of our due diligence process when selecting and reviewing suppliers, we consider the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking. We seek to work with reputable organisations that can demonstrate responsible employment practices, fair pay, and safe working conditions.

Where risk is identified, or where we deem it proportionate, we may undertake supplier audits or request evidence of compliance with modern slavery and labour standards. These audits may include reviewing policies and training materials, checking labour contracts and wage practices, and assessing the use of subcontractors or agency labour. If a supplier is unable or unwilling to provide appropriate assurances or to address identified issues, we may suspend or terminate the relationship.

We also work to ensure that any subcontracted transport or labour used to support our services is subject to appropriate contractual obligations that reflect our zero-tolerance approach and our commitment to ethical conduct.

Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels

Man and Van Wembley encourages all employees, workers, contractors, and other stakeholders to speak up if they have any concerns about modern slavery, human trafficking, or unethical labour practices in our business or supply chains. We will treat any such concerns seriously and will handle them sensitively and, where possible, confidentially.

Concerns can be raised with line managers, senior management, or through any designated internal reporting channel that may be communicated to staff from time to time. We will not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith. All reports will be investigated promptly and, where appropriate, corrective or remedial action will be taken. Where there is evidence of criminal behaviour, we will support referrals to the relevant authorities.

Training, Awareness and Continuous Improvement

We recognise that policies alone are not enough. We aim to develop awareness among our staff and key suppliers about the signs of modern slavery and the steps to take if concerns arise. Where relevant, employees may receive information or training so they understand our expectations, the risks in our sector, and how to escalate any suspected issues.

We are committed to continuously improving our processes to prevent modern slavery. This includes reviewing our risk assessments, updating internal procedures, and refining our approach to supplier management as our business evolves.

Monitoring and Annual Review

This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement will be reviewed at least once every year by the management of Man and Van Wembley. The review will take account of any changes in our operations, the nature of our supply chains, and developments in best practice or legal requirements.

As part of the annual review, we will consider the effectiveness of our current measures, whether any incidents or concerns have been raised, and what further steps we can take to strengthen our approach. Where necessary, we will update this statement and our related policies to reflect improvements or changes in our practices.

This statement reflects Man and Van Wembley’s ongoing commitment to upholding human rights, promoting ethical employment, and working towards the elimination of modern slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of our business and supply chains.
